Back to Zero
In her fifth year working as an Accounting Supervisor for a private company in the Philippines, Rosalie gave birth to her first child, Xandra. After trying for what seemed like an eternity to find help to take care of her daughter, she finally reached a breaking point. So she did what any mother in her position would have done. She put her daughter first.
After resigning from her job, Rosalie looked for online jobs that could sustain her family. Despite her years of experience as an accountant, however, Rosalie’s first online job was working as a Virtual Assistant.
“I am a certified public accountant but in the freelancing world, they don’t honor the CPA license… For them, what’s important is that you know Xero and Quickbooks.”
Rosalie admitted that she didn’t know how to use Xero when she started working online. She stumbled upon the software, however, when her client allowed her to use Xero for a project. Little did Rosalie know that her encounter with Xero would take her one step closer to her goal of working with us.
“Bean Ninjas has higher standards compared to the bookkeeping firms I worked with before so I felt like I needed to get more experience first,” – Rosalie Omega, Bean Ninjas USA Cloud Accountant Share on XNot too long after, Rosalie found her way to Bean Ninjas.

Preparation for Pursuit
Before Rosalie applied for the position as cloud accountant here at Bean Ninjas, she had heard good things from her college friend Rose, who is also Bean Ninjas USA’s Team Leader.
Rosalie remembers being half excited and half anxious at the application process.
“Bean Ninjas has higher standards compared to the bookkeeping firms I worked with before so I felt like I needed to get more experience first,”
She liked the company’s culture as well as the benefits (who wouldn’t?) Most importantly, though, the flexibility of the work schedule was the biggest draw. Having the freedom of time would allow Rosalie to practice her profession while still being available for her family.
Unlike most people, though, Rosalie didn’t apply right away. She took time to prepare, honed her skills and became Xero-certified.
And almost as if fate would have it, as soon as Rosalie had prepared herself, Rose told her that there was an opening at Bean Ninjas.
There was no reason not to grab the opportunity at that point. Rosalie then summoned her courage to take the risk and in her own calculated way, went for it.
Family First and Fearless Choice
Rosalie’s fearless choice to put her family first is inspiring, to say the least. Her decision to walk away from her established career to step into uncharted waters is a moment that would make any professional sweat just thinking about.
So we weren’t surprised to hear so much wisdom from this lady when we asked her about her life lessons.
Rosalie’s first lesson: the importance of work and life balance. She knows full well that there are many aspects to a person’s life.
“Work is important and it doesn’t always mean that you need to give up something. But you have to learn to prioritize what matters most at that point in time in your life.” – Rosalie Omega, Bean Ninjas Share on X“Work is important and it doesn’t always mean that you need to give up something. But you have to learn to prioritize what matters most at that point in time in your life.”
When Rosalie left her established career, it wasn’t just because she couldn’t find someone trustworthy to take care of Xandra. She was a first-time mom and her daughter was born prematurely. At the same time, she couldn’t afford to give up her service in their church as both her and her husband, Alvin, are pastors. Her commitment to her faith and her community was a priority that she was not willing to compromise on.
It isn’t just service and taking care of the kids for Rosalie, though. She’s no stranger to fun. As accountants, she’s learned that it’s normal to face plenty of tight deadlines and that removing stress entirely in daily work life is unavoidable.
“We really have to make a choice to relax and rest.”
It’s a lesson that Rosalie learned not too long ago, which leads us to Rosalie’s second lesson: that everything can be learned.
When Rosalie quit her job, she thought it would be hard to make the switch and start from scratch.
“You will give up something so you need to learn something new. So if you really want to – and if you really need to – you'll learn.” – Rosalie Omega, Bean Ninjas Share on X“You will give up something so you need to learn something new. So if you really want to – and if you really need to – you’ll learn” she said nonchalantly.
Rosalie’s third lesson undoubtedly came from her experience as an accountant.
“Sometimes you need to pause and breathe and then you go back to work again and find another solution.”
Rosalie’s philosophy of staying calm amidst disorder and chaos doesn’t just apply to work. It applies to daily life, Rosalie adds.
“In life, we will be facing different circumstances that will seem impossible to overcome. But when we just commit and go on with it, we’ll discover that it has a solution and we’ll get overall challenges.”
Source of Strength
Rosalie describes herself as simple, faithful, and selfless.
“I want a simple life. I only want simple things. I’m not materialistic,” Rosalie shared. “But when it comes to food, that’s a different story” she jokingly added.
Having committed her life to God, Rosalie is faithful to her religious beliefs and her commitment to her calling to serve their church community in spite of the personal challenges she’s experienced.
Rosalie shared that she went through postpartum depression after the birth of her second child, Xian. Since then she’s learned to love herself first. She’s learned to say no. That it’s ok to give up sometimes. That it’s fine to demand sometimes as well. And that it’s okay to not be okay.
And while her personal philosophy illustrates how much Rosalie has been through in her life, her strong faith in God is what really grounds her.
“Let love and faithfulness never leave you; Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.”
Milestones and Life’s Mission
We asked Rosalie what she would tell her 13-year old self and here’s what she said.
“Thank you for starting it well. I know it was not easy for you but still, you have dreamed of a better future. May you be happy seeing the fruit of your hard work (dream house for your parents, graduated in college, becoming a CPA, and having a beautiful family).”
In the future, Rosalie is looking forward to ticking off these items in her bucket list: travel with her whole family to Japan, South Korea, and Israel; to have their own home; and to have a one-week honeymoon vacation with her husband (Rosalie specified, without the kids).
We at Bean Ninjas are proud of Rosalie’s fearless attitude, drive and faith. We wish you success and hope you fulfill your dreams.
