Here at Bean Ninjas, we’d be nothing without our passionate and highly skilled team. We’re excited to shine a spotlight on, and introduce our latest Bean Ninja, Aimee Creighton who is our Operations Manager!

As Operations Manager, Aimee oversee Bean Ninjas day to day operations internal, as well as acting as our Customer Satisfaction Manager (CSM) for the Australian Team. The CSM ensures our Australian clients are receiving the best service possible. It’s a wide and varied role – which is just the kind of challenge that Aimee likes.

As an experienced accountant, Aimee Creighton has worked in both the public and private financial sectors. These experiences have taught her how valuable a service like Bean Ninjas could be for clients – so it was no surprise that she eventually found herself becoming a part of the team!

But how did Aimee find her way to the Bean Ninja dojo?

Early Career Journey

corporate accounting

After working in both public sector and corporate accounting roles, Aimee quickly established that tax accounting was definitely not for her. But that didn’t stop her from pursuing a successful career within finance, and she moved into management accounting roles.

“After experiencing the fast-paced and diversified world of corporate accounting, I was hooked.  The constantly changing environment provided so many opportunities to learn and interact constantly with a team of people from varying departments – this challenge was something I missed working in public practice.”

After gaining experience in a number of industries, Aimee took  a break from work to start her family, and it was during this time that she was introduced to the idea behind Bean Ninjas:

“I thought it was such a fantastic concept and was curious to see how it progressed. As someone working in public practice at the time and listening to clients’ commentary in relation to finding a reliable bookkeeper, I thought there was definitely a market for such a service. Having followed Meryl and her team’s success I was excited at the opportunity of coming on board.”

We would be nowhere without a passionate, skilled team here at Bean Ninjas! That's why we're keen for you to meet them! Get to know Aimee Creighton in our latest team member spotlight. #TeamSuccess #AimeeCreighton #BeanNinjas Click To Tweet

It was towards the end of her maternity leave that Aimee saw Bean NInjas was hiring, and she had no hesitation in applying to join the team.

“I worked alongside Meryl previously a number of years ago and I gained so much knowledge being a part of her team. When I realized Bean Ninjas was recruiting, I felt inspired to get back to work.”

So Aimee came on board.  And she’s pretty excited about it:

“While my position is only just starting I’m thrilled to be part of a dynamic team of remote access staff working from all over the world in the comfort of my own home – how cool is that!”

Aimee is a big part of what makes Bean Ninjas so successful – our passionate team!

Career Lessons Along the Way

Like many of our team, Aimee has had a successful career in the finance and accounting industry. It’s the wealth of knowledge and wisdom that great staff like Aimee bring to the team, that helps Bean Ninjas keep delivering value to our clients.

Aimee has some fantastic career lessons to share, including listening and communication:

always listen

“Always listen. Whether it’s listening to staff, clients or your superiors, always listen to what you are being told.”

Relationships are also important for AImee. Whether in work or personal life, it’s building solid relationships that helps to create a great community atmosphere to any workplace:

“Relationships are important. Clients like a connection to the person they are dealing with. While I don’t recommend oversharing or lengthy off-topic conversations, clients like to feel understood and more than just your 2pm appointment.”

Finally, Aimee advocates for always doing more:

“Go the extra mile. No one ever got anywhere by doing enough to just get by.”

Getting Personal

Outside of her life as a Bean Ninja, Aimee has a full schedule! With three children all under the age of five, she’s certainly always on her toes!

“I refer to us as the Creighton Circus – never a dull moment in our household!”

Her family is the most important thing in her life, and while she hates to go all mushy on us, her husband is definitely at the top of the list of things she couldn’t live without:

“I would say coffee but I’m going to go the mushy route and say my husband. Without his love and support, life with 3 kids under 5 would be tough!”

Mr. and Mrs. Creighton

Not taking herself too seriously is important to Aimee, which is probably a good thing with three toddlers to handle! That’s alongside being loyal and honest – two very important personality traits when it comes to being a Bean Ninja, and the top two Aimee would use to define herself.

Her personal philosophy is simple but very effective:

“Start each day with a purpose. Set a goal and achieve it!”

Like many of us, Aimee has faced a few challenges in both her work and personal life. Sadly, Aimee had to face one her greatest challenges in life in the past year, with the passing of her father.

“Losing my Dad six months ago. I am where I am today because of his encouragement and support to pursue an accounting career. It’s been a tough adjustment going from working alongside each other for the majority of my accounting career to flying solo now.”

Defining success is easy for Aimee. Quite simply, it’s happiness. She says if you are able to sit back, reflect on what you have achieved and feel happy – that’s exactly what success looks like. Which also feeds in nicely to what she thinks true leadership looks like.

“True leadership is inspiring your team to continually better themselves.” -Aimee Creighton #BeanNinjas Click To Tweet

What’s next for Aimee?

Aimee has clearly had a very full life up to now, including spending 7 years as a cheerleader in the NBL for the Cairns Taipans! But she’s not showing any sign of slowing down. In fact, her bucket list is just getting longer.

Despite the ‘Creighton Circus’ taking up a lot of her time, there’s still plenty on her to do list! Not excluding a holiday home on the South Island of New Zealand, learning a second language and a visit to Mexico!

We love her ambition!

If she could go back in time and give her 13-year-old self one piece of advice, it would be to stop and appreciate life as it is – and enjoy the easy times!

“I’d say don’t wish your life away wanting to grow up too quickly, this is the easy fun stuff!”

While she doesn’t get much time at the moment to read and indulge in podcasts, Aimee still finds a little bit of time to cultivate some inspiration in her life and enjoys following Richard Branson on LinkedIn.

You’re definitely an inspiration for us Aimee, and we’re proud to have you a part of the Bean Ninjas Team!
